How come my Velodyne subwoofer sound so slow when I mate it with my Open Baffle using a 5" telefunken speakers but it sounded just fine when I use it with my BuschII horns using Fostex 126 (sorry for the spelling).  Does OB mean faster sound????

I'm willing to bet the low frequency rolloff on the Telefunkens differs enough from the Fostex's to trick your ears into hearing a difference in the transients...when you change where the speakers are crossing over to the sub, the sub sounds different (worse) to you.

Meaning the Telefunken do not go as low as the Fostex?  That makes sense, unfortunately my old Velodyne sub does not have the frequency adjustment pot so I can turn it up to ~100---150hz or so.  Time for new sub - or perhaps OB sub...................

Why are boxed subs slow???
I just purchased awesome 12" powered stereo subs not three months ago & are selling them, its all the SI's fault.  hell yeah OB is faster.   i had no clue what that meant (never heard such a thing either) before these beasts entered my L/R.

anyways, boxed subs aren't going to work for us i don't think, unless they are crazy expensive.  by this i mean for a lot of $ ultra fast boxed subs exist, so i'm told..

i'm looking at the H baffles or Hawthorne Augggies.   good thread here going on about H baffles (OB subs)

open to new ideas though for sure.
