Hi,

I am currently using Cardas mini-to-mini copper cable with my iMod and Xin LE Amp.
I could see at least half a dozen different mini to mini cables (copper, copper/silver mix, all silver) from different manufacturers and modders.

Has anyone done a comparison of mini to mini cable (I'll need a right angle plug) and heard clear benefit using iMod as source.
I was looking at mini to mini cables cables from ALO, Turbo, Audiopath, mpig and some DIYs.

Thanks
Sunil

I just ordered the Black Dragon but I don't have any other to compare it to except a very cheap no name.  Supposedly the ALO is great and Vinnie had recommended it to me but for some reason I just had a better feeling about he Black Dragon which is copper based versus the ALO which is silver...

I've only tried a few, mostly custom made DIY cables.   I will say I think the Eichmann Bullet plugs are the bomb in this application...they seem to thrive in situations where the signal isn't that strong...i'm basing this off my phono experience with the plugs.

My Imod cable has them too - a 4 pack & $20 to a repair shop got it and my TT hooked up.

there's a seller on ebay from canada who makes a wicked sounding cable for $50.  i'll try & find the link..  he uses 6 strands of both copper & silver wiring.  it looks like a hornets nest but sounds fantastic.

Thanks,

I already have Cardas copper cable ($15). I do not know if I benefit from upgrade.

I am look for right angle 6 inches mini to mini cable.
Here's an example:

Yes, that's the one Vinnie recommended to me and on head-fi.net there is plenty of great comments about this ALO CRYO cable.  I would assume it will give you better performance then your Cardas, at least if you have a good enough pair of cans to show the difference.

While I don't have an iPod, I have used several mini-to-mini 3.5mm stereo cables between my mobile mic preamp and my Edirol R-09 digital recorder, and by far the best I ever used is the Panorama from The Cable Pro.  It's not cheap, it's fairly stiff, but it has the heaviest duty right angle 3.5mm connector you will ever see -- makes the Neutrik look like a toy.

Check it out -- they offer a money back guarantee if you're not satisfied.

Wow, that does look like a robust cable, and connection set!

It's actually more flexible than it looks, and nothing else even came close to it in my portable recording rig -- blew the Cardas away.

Ted is also a good guy to deal with.  If I ever get an iMod, I'm sure I will get one of these to go with it.

While I can't say this is true for many other sources I've tried, but with the iMod, I prefer a good silver cable.  The Audiopath Silver iPod cable (with Eichman Silver Bullet RCA plugs, or with stereo mini plugs) is amazing with the iMod, but is now only offered in standard lengths of 0.5m, 1.0m, etc.

ALOaudio also makes top-notch cables for the iMod (he also owns a few iMods and is also selling them with his custom cables), and he does custom lengths, straight or right angle plugs, different styles, etc.  The link you provided above shows this and IMO, you can't go wrong with ALOaudio cables.

I have another customer who loves his iMod with the Crystal Cable Piccolo iPod cable: http://www.crystalcable.com   This one is pretty expensive  :o

Best regards,

Vinnie

Thank you all for responses.

I think the cablepro cable is going to be too stiff and connectors too big for use with portable amp. I am not sure about ALO's exotic approach of using silver for one strand and copper for others. I am more inclined to go for all copper, or all silver. Since I already have Cardas copper. I am thinking of getting Silver Dragon mini to mini from moon audio. While I am at it - I am thinking of getting my AKG701 recabled with silver dragon.

Any experience with silver dragon?

Thank you all.

Sunil.
