Denon DP59L broken mute circuit
« on: 10 Apr 2007, 10:08 pm »
My Denon DP59L (bought new estimated late 80s) has a little glitch.  An electronic circuit senses the arm's pivot arc: When the arm is located within the record playing surface the audio circuit is open; beyond or outside the playing surface the audio circuit shorts/mutes.  (Auto-mutes when cleaning the needle.)  It's broken & is now muting one or both channels when it should be playing.

Anyone familiar w/ the fix?  I've not yet made a workspace since the move, so haven't looked at it.  I have nothing against the mute circuit except of course that it's now bogus.  The easiest fix appears to be finding the circuit & bypassing it altogether, no?
