Found the "MAGIC"...
« on: 1 Apr 2007, 08:37 pm »
I really think I have reached the point of evolving my system to where it just sounds "MAGICAL". With my latest additions (not all done at once) of the Van Alstine Ultra DAC, Virtual Dynamics David Series cables, Golden Sounds Acoustic Discs (room corner treatments) DH Cones & squares (isolation), GutWire NOTEPADS (absorb EMI/RFI, & damping) Mapleshade Mikro-smooth, OPTRIX, & IONOCLAST (CD treatments) DEOXIT & DEOXIT GOLD (cleaned all cables, posts, & connections) my listening pleasure just kept getting better & better. I was seriously thinking about replacing my beloved AAD 2001 monitors with there big brother, the AAD 2003 floorstanders. But let me tell you, that plan is now on the back burner. I am simply in awe of how good my system now sounds. I think each & every addition or tweak has a cumulative effect on the overall sound quality. So, for the time being I am going to give my credit cards a rest, kick up my feet & simply enjoy some marvelous music. Hopefully this feeling doesn't wear off too quickly!!!!

Enjoy it while it lasts. There's alway's something else on the horizon, but don't be too hasty. You have reached a place that somehow seems fairly rare for an audiophile. The only ways to reach it seem to be:

(1) truly find a mix of components that "does it" for you
(2) get frustrated by the turnover train and just settle for what is in place now
(3) run out of money
(4) die

Enjoy,
Bob

Good luck, now do not read any reviews, listen to your audio buddies, go to a Audio Shop or read any threads and maybe your system will stay as is.
By all means DO NOT CHANGE A THING. The thought of "if i just do this it will sound better" is the ruination of many a fine sounding system.

   Happy listening,

Yep, and the better the rig sounds the more likely a change will be for the worse.

Congratulations!

Yup, rollo's got it right....just stay away from comparisons with anything or anybody for a time.  Someone will always have some facet of performance better than you....but one facet does not equal the whole she-bang.

Just enjoy yourself and your music - it sounds like along time coming with all that 'strategizing' you've put in  :thumb:
