What version is everyone using? All I see is V0.95 prebeta 3.

I have decided to check this out since I am having some problems with my lousy Sony CDRW and a particular CD. My server C: drive is out so I cant use my old SCSI Yamaha 426. Maybe I will rebuild tonight  :?

I am currently using v0.9 beta 4 from 2002. It has worked well for a long time so I haven't updated it. Perhaps one day it will actually get out of beta. :)

EAC is a great program.
Here in Australia, all EMI plastic recordings are copy protected.
EAC gets around this copy protection with aplomb.
Notice that the word "Compact Disc" does not appear anywhere on these plastic recordings. The manufacturers can't call them a compact disc if they don't conform to the red book standard.

I am also using V0.95 prebeta 3, from 11 May 2003.

The author isn't making any money, so I doubt there's much incentive to go further--in my experience the app works perfectly now.

What settings do you guys use? I've found that it depends on what drive I'm using, but I've gotten very good results (nearly always 100%) with the Paranoid Mode, Cache Disabled, Spin-up Drive first settings.

I just ordered a Plextor CD-Rom drive to replace one I killed with my leg while the tray was open. From what I have read, these are among the best CD-Roms for doing DAE. I think the author wrote the app using that brand of drive.

Interesting that Plextor does not list ANY CD-Rom drives on its website (only CD-R/combo drives). Apparently they are only OEMed if they are still being produced.

I ordered a PX-32TSi-BK which is the SCSI model (with I guess a black faceplate) to replace my old ...PX-32TSi, manufactured in May 1998! This was one of 2 Plextor CD-roms I could find on Pricewatch! I have a Motherboard with onboard SCSI. The plan is to create a hard drive image just for burning CDs, the other use for the PC will be my main server.

So the company EMI is altering the redbook for its CD releases in Australia? To implement a copy protection?

Hi jqp
Yes EMI are.
If you bought Norah Jones CD last year, it had the Compact Disc logo on the label, and stamped into the jewel case. If you look at the same CD in the shops now, you cannot find the word "Compact Disc" anywhere.
They stuff around with the table of contents, which is ok on a hi fi compact disc player, but normal computer readers won't play them.
EAC gets around the protection, nicely.

I assume EAC follows the redbook to make its own table of contents based on the tracks you have selected?
