Klaus, how about a true integrated amp?
« on: 23 Mar 2007, 01:03 am »
It's about time Klaus build a true integrated amp.  The Cyclops is not a true integrated amp.  It is a minimalist integrated amp with passive gain control.  What we need is an amp with at least 3 input source, an active preamp and enough power to drive most speakers.  Klaus could integrate the basics of the Tempest with the Stratos to get a really good kick ass integrated amp.  I am sure this would appeal to a group of users who don't really care much about pre and power but simply want a good amp to drive their system.

it would be great !!!

Room to acomodate pre´s board is no problem... neither transformer

As with dual monos or HT-3 there can be a second level inside the case... but as Tempest has RCA jacks soldered to board it may be complicated to extend inputs outputs to back panel.

Potentiometer and input selectors can be fixed to the back of the front panel as always, and also remote sensor. Those big Tempest knobs would look very nice and impressive on a big case like Strato´s. The classic Stratos display can be kept I think but at a lower height.

Back panel would have to get another AC IEC jack so pre and amplifier can be energized separately.

Regarding room I think there is also a chance to develop Integrated 120kuF at least.

Extreme amplifier stage would be impossible because of transformers needed space.

Interesting idea indeed !!!

I may be speaking out of turn, but it is my understanding that Klaus may have a no-compete clause with Symphonic lines with regards to a "true" integrated amp.
