Phillips SACD 1000
« on: 22 Mar 2007, 11:36 pm »
I have this anchor that does not read CD or SACD. Anyone know if and where it can be repaired? I understand Phillips could not fix units. Help!

Boat anchor or cool looking door stop. Mine died one week after purchase and Philips replaced it with a lowly 963SA and yes they cannot fix them.

   Marv,

It is a boat anchor because it does not work.  The SACD section is why I bought unit. If it worked or could  be fixed or modded it is NO boat anchor.
I loved the SACD. use Lector 7t for redbook and 1000 for SACD.

I have a Philips SACD-1000 which plays all CD's but only some SACD's.  The SACD's it plays it plays consistently and the SACD's it does not play it consistently does not play.  It was modded by Stan Warren with Blackgates and Jensens. It also had a voltage rail mod.  Still a very good sounding CD player.

Thanks man,

I guess it is the ultimate boat anchor now. Well Phillips just lost another customer.

rollo:
Send it off to APLhifi.com. Alex peychev. Have it upgraded to a DAC. The results will be like jaw dropping!!! Makes a killer DAC. Best I've ever had.

                                   Cheers

rollo, more bad news, I had a modified SACD1000,it died and did not weigh enough to make a good anchor either. These things are not fixable,I hope you don't have too large an investment in SACD's.  I have also read the APL website recently and the SACD 1000 is no longer being modded or repaired.

APLHiFi does not repair the SACD 1000 due to no chips available from Phillips. But the chips have nothing to do with converting it to a DAC. Mine works GREAT!!!. Wish you guys could hear it. Very impressive!!
Hey Rollo!! If yours doesn't work now it sure as hell wouldn't hurt to contact APLHiFi and see what they can do for you.

                                                        Cheers
