stay shut down after a power surge or power outage shuts it down. I have a customer that lives in the country and his electric service will simply go off periodically.

The concern is that his complete system is all tubes and must be turned on in sequence especially since the pre is tube rectified. Having the complete system shut down and them fire back up all at once is troubling.

Is there a surge protector or conditioner that will stay off if it gets shut down.

I hope it is okay to post this thread in this circle.

Well for surge, a breaker would do, that is what I use in my home made conditioner.  If the breaker trips you have to switch it back on physically (manually) before it will come on again.  For brown out, I am not sure if the breaker would come off.   Maybe you could check the data sheets on breakers to see if that were the case.

Thanks Josh, the breaker is an interesting idea but would it really "trip" simply do to the power going out? Not a wise remark as I simply don't know.

Brown outs are different, I have lost several tubes that were running in the serious brown-out the North East saw a few years back.

I don't know the answer either...only through it out there as something to look into.  yeah, I guess I mixed up my language, brown out versus outage.

Come to think of it, no it wouldn't go off.  I have knocked the power out once and my PC didn't need to be flipped back on.  But there may be a different kind of breaker that would. Maybe magnetic catch?

Otherwise, Charlie's post below yours is semi applicable.  You could install a timer delay on for the tube amps with an AC relay inside the PC. I know my old Monster HTS 3500 had a delay on and some of their other lines do too.

I have power bars and the like fitted with GFCIs:  if the power goes out, the GFCIs need to be reset manually.  I realize this couldn't be universally true, or else the outlets in the bathroom would have to be reset every time the power went down.  But the ones I have built into power bars always have to be reset.

This actualy was always a pain, as I bought these things to use with my salt water aquarium.  If the power went out, I really wanted all of the electronics to start back up as soon as possible.  But until I was there to reset the GFCI, my poor fish had to suffer.

i'm using a PS Audio duet (which sounds great with your bella extreme 3205 mk II  :thumb:), and i believe it does what he'd need.   when you unplug the duet from the wall then plug it back in, you need to push a button to activate it.

Edit:  Just tried it again, and when the unit is plugged  back in the power botton blinks for about 10 seconds then turns on automatically  :duh:
