Hammond 193L Transformer/Choke
« on: 27 Feb 2007, 10:31 pm »
I have been reading a few threads here on AC and elsewhere about attaching any power cord to a Hammond 193L and plugging this cable into the same AC circuit that powers an audio system.  Could someone explain beneift this could have on performance.  Please use plain English as I am not technical when it comes to power issues.

Hi all,

I would also like to know  :D

I was wondering:
- Does the hammond choke act like a balanced power system that cancells out noise inside the equipment transformer? This should be cancellation on common mode noise? is this correct?
- If we add a capacitor across the line, will this mean the differential noise will be converted by the capacitor to common mode, and in turn cancel it out with the choke?
- How does the choke actually cancel noise?
