I have used the house vacuum with the KAB EV-1 but the Eureka canister vac with added foot switch is much more convenient. Just need to make a sound deadening cover for the vac so I can listen to music while I work. :D I see no reason to spend more of your record buying $$ on machinery that's just redundant. Enjoy!

just thought i would give my experience with the KAB EV1. my small shop vac worked well with the EV1. my method of using the EV1 was to clean one side of a LP using my old TT platter, my reason was to not contaminate the vac brush with a dirty LP. i used my disc doctor LP solution and there brushes, as the small single brush included did not compare to the disc doctor brushes, one brush with cleaner, wipe with a clean cotton cloth. one brush for rinse doing this three times with two different bowls of distilled water. wipe excess with another cotton cloth. then put on the EV1 for vacuuming, then do the other side on the EV1 in the same order. and flip and vac. the unit vacs the LP just about dry. i then put the LP on a dish rack. and do another one. my cleaning time was cut in half by using the EV1 instead of trying to use my shop vac with a attachment covered with a cloth. the EV1 is easy to use and i highly recommend it to those looking for a little ease in there LP cleaning.
i clean new as well as used LPs.  if you are spinning vinyl clean LPs are a must.
