diy isolation transformers?

So how would one go about making a isolation transformer like a stereo isoMAX? $180 seems pretty steep for one of these guys.

First, you steal 2 very high quality line level audio isolation transformers.......
The isoMax contains 2 Jensen isolation transformers. Looking at the prices for the transformers alone, they're not charging you all that much to house it and make it practical. But depending how you value your time, there are cost savings to be had.

You can source, "equivalents" to the isoMax from ART, EDCOR, etc.... or source your own transfromers from Jensen, Cinemag, Edcor, etc.... and build.

Hopefully, Steve Eddy will weigh in.

Gooberdude - Jon's site talks about power isolation transformers, not audio isolation transformers. Also, if you make a reference to a site, please provide a url like -
http://www.geocities.com/jonrisch/index2.htm
So the many folks who will take your advice won't have to search.

STS - iff'n you're looking for cheap 'n cheerful, allready built -

I haven't personal experience with either

so what type of xformer are in the CI-2RR? I can't figure from the data sheet. I went to Cinemag but have no clue which are "equivalent"
Anyway two of the ART ones are half the price of the jensons. hmmmm? wonder which I will try...

I remember reading Steve Eddy's comments that the Cinemag sound just as good for a lot less.  I think it is something to the tune of $80-90 for the pair.

Actually, yes, insofar as it leads to a discussion of the various types of isolation transformers that we may use in audio, and how they are not interchangeable. Now from STS's post -
So how would one go about making a isolation transformer like a stereo isoMAX? $180 seems pretty steep for one of these guys.

I knew he was talking about audio isolation transformers because of the price and the fact that it was referred to a 'stereo'. IsoMax is also available for cable isolation (which is what Jon was referring to) the IsoMax for cable, but they are substantially less expensive. Now I knew that (based largely on the great void in my life, which I fill with useless nonesense), but I certainly shouldn't expect you or anyone else to understand what the heck STS was specifically talking about. Actually, I should have tweaked STS, not you, about providing a specific link so we can all be on the same page.

Iso transformers in audio are generally, audio isolation, cable/coax, and power.
