Bugle Battery Impedance
« on: 16 Jan 2007, 06:56 pm »
My bugle is completed and working great.  Soon I'll begin a better TT setup for it.  I'm using rechargable 9v NiMH's with my bugle, as I already had a spare pair.  I just noticed that since purchasing my pair of NiMH 9v's, new models have been introduced that claim a lowered impedance.  Is power supply impedance an issue with the Bugle's?  If so, I'll try and request numbers from the battery manufacturers/dealers to quantify the issue.  Otherwise I'll just stick with my old batteries.

The lower impedance batteries will probably help.  That's the reason many here like the big 12V SLAs.  Besides, the extra headroom.

That's what I thought.  Given the price of the nice rechargeable 9v's, the SLA path may be worth it.  The 9v's are just so small and easy.

BTW, the Bugle is a great product.  The kit was simple as can be.  I love the layout (though I know it isn't like that for cosmetic reasons.)  Even with my 95db 1W/1M speakers and no chassis, the Bugle is darned quiet.

thanks,

Paul
