OLIVE owners - New Software Updates available
Just thought I would mention that there is a new Software download
Version: 2.3.8 for all OLIVE players.
OLIVE has posted the following info:
Changes in software version 2.3.8 from 01.17.2007
The 2.3 software runs on the Olive MUSICA, SYMPHONY and OPUS
New features:
"RONDO"
The RONDO web browser user interface now is a Bonjour service and automatically displayed in the browser, for instance in Safari.
RONDO contains a new Player view dedicated to the classical mode as well as a new composer icon.
RONDO supports coverarts. If a music file contains the image of the CD cover (in png or jpg format), and displays it during the playback of the corresponding track.
RONDO supports favicon.
Enhanced MP3 player/mobile support, for instance Motorola RAZR (V3i & V3x).
The "UPnP/AV client" service can be enabled or disabled under "Settings & Specials" > "Network" > "Services". By default, this service is disabled.
Software bug fixes:
UPnP/AV:
Play/Stop problems of UPnP/AV servers fixed.
Refresh of UPnP/AV server list is now exhaustive.
Single UPnP/AV server is now listed.
Sleep mode:
The brightness of the On/Off switch again functions correctly during sleep mode.
Enhanced sleep mode (hard disk cannot wake-up anymore)
Playback:
Pressing the "Play" or "Next Track" buttons during music playback from a CD will launch the correct track.
Sporadic interruptions during playback have been fixed.
Enhanced playback of music tracks over the network.
Improved compatibility with some protected CDs (for instance the CD "Rudebox" of Robbie Williams).
Double entries in a playlist do not lead to playback loops any more.
Changes in title or CD numbering again affect all concerned tracks of an album.
Occasional errors during the burning of a CD have been fixed.
USB player:
Enhanced recognition of iPods so that the iPod's library is correctly shown on the display.
MP3 players with extension slot are also recognized when no memory card is plugged into the slot.
Browsing on a MP3 player no longer stops music playback from the Olive music server's library.
When several USB devices are connected to the Olive music server, pressing the eject key for one of those will immediately delete it from the main menu.
The shutdown of the Olive music server ejects all connected USB devices automatically.
Import:
Playing back an Internet radio station no longer stops a current import operation.
During the import of music tracks into the Olive music server it is no longer possible to toggle to an iPod's library.
WLAN:
WPA: stability problems within weak wireless networks have been solved.
General improvement of the wireless connection
Open issues:
Tunes 7: communication with iTunes 7 is today only possible as follow: iTunes 7 acts as client and Olive's MUSICA/SYMPHONY/OPUS as a server (i.e. you can stream music from the Olive music server to the iTunes software, but not vice versa).
In order to access the music stored on your PC/MAC on your Olive music server we recommend to use Roku's Firefly server software. The Firefly software is available at http://www.rokulabs.com/firefly.
This is an upgrade from the 2.3 and 2.3.1Pro.
