Hi there,

I just landed in Singapore for 4 months and, in part due to British Airway's utterly anal limit of 22kg of luggage , I'm stranded here without any decent music system!  :o :o :o   Ah, I see you understand the tragedy. . .

I did bring my laptop and SB3 along, so I have a workable front end to work with, so I need suggestions for an amp and speakers to hook up to the Squeezebox.

The problem is that I can't really justify purchasing too much in the way of new audio goodies (however much I'd enjoy that ) since my system at home is complete and I'm not endowed with much disposable income right now.

Any thoughts for what I could scrounge up to hold me over until I head back?

Thanks!

:-) Dayne

Dayne, please private message me. I have a friend in Singapore who belongs to a do it yourself audio club. they pool their resources and come up with some pretty high end siunding stuff. Neighbor helping neighbor.

I can forward to him your email address.

Just received my  trends-ta10 t-amp today,   sounds very impressive and only costs 100  bucks  :D

Dayne, you might want to PM EchiDna as he lives in Singapore.

He might be able to help.

If you're on a limited budget make sure you stay away from the Adelphia building... :)

Wow, you guys are great! Thanks so much for the ideas and references!

Dennis has very generously offered to set me up with some amplification, so I'm half of the way there! Just need some speaks and I'll be good to go.

Gary, thanks for the warning about The Adelphi, I will tread very warily. . . your Panda Feet look pretty cool, by the way.

Robert (at this is purely out of intellectual curiousity, of course :D), what kind of speaker loads can your TA-10 handle (sensitivity and impedance to a "reasonable" volume)? Looks like a neat little unit that could be fun to play with a little later on.

Cheers,

:-) Dayne

I'll chip in (pun?) since I have the same amp. It runs my speakers like a dream.
# 85 db/ 2.83v/1m
# Frequentie response -3db typical in room 40hz-22.000hz
# Impedantie: 8 ohm.
