I finally got EAC installed again on my new computer, which is an AMD dual-core machine.  EAC kept having random errors, like "unhandled exception" with certain numbers (5606 and 2261).  I learnt this error occurs when EAC uses both processors.  You have to limit EAC to using only one processor:
