DIY in the Charlotte Area
« on: 2 Jan 2007, 01:48 pm »
Happy New Years Folks,

I have been in N.C. for 3 years, and finally have some time for my DIY hobby. Is there any other DIY out in the Charlotte Area? I just finished a rebuild of a power amp using the power section of Dynaco SCA35 and my current project is an OTL using 6C33C. I have also built a Mauhorn using the Lowthers PM7A.

I'm looking to replace my Mauhorn with something a little smaller, any body heard the Brines Acoustics LT-2000 ?

Hi Quinnling
I am about to start building some small ESP amps, but thats the extent of my DIY so far. I would also like to build a pair of Orion speakers sometime.

Not familiar with your stuff, but your OTL amp sounds cool! Check out the zeroformers (zeroimpedence.com), to help match impedence to your speakers. Works great for me with PP tubes and lowR speakers.

I know a guy who rebuilds old Zenith/Heathkit tube amps, or are they integrated amps? I saw about 8 of them at his place I think.

He also has 3 or 4 Ford engines on his garage floor  :o
