My experience is only with the receiver, and the mods done where only extended damping + power cord + supports, + last but not least, a balanced isolation transformer, this is what turned it from reasonable into very good, regardless of price...  :thumb:

Now I replaced it with a 20 times more expensive combo, the major difference is no strain at very loud volumes, of course it is more refined over all, thanks to the expensive Linn, and tubes do bring some extra liveliness to the sound...

But I keep it as a backup, it sure amazed a lot of people, starting with me, extremely good value for money...  8)

BrassEar, no need to apologise :o

Coincidently, only an hour or two before I saw your post I re-read this thread-

http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=11728&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

all 21 pages!

But like Lowrider I have the receiver as well as THREE of the amps and thanks to Tirade's "Huge sale" just aquired another of the amps 'fully modded by Wayne at Bolder Cable' (as Tirade put it).

Believe me I'm still every bit as enthusiastic as you about these amps and hope I may be able to put together a comprehensive HT system as well as a dedicated 2 channel setup eventually.

I would love to hear how you distill all that info out there and how you find any mods in due course. 8)

Good listening.

Hi,

I just inherited a TEAC DR-L700 DVD Receiver that according to your site uses the Class-T TK2050 amplifier.

I'd like to use the receiver only for listening to music, with two speakers, quite loud, in a 14' x 20' x 10'H livingroom.

I wonder if someone could give me some advise on what range of characteristics a pair of speakers should have to best match this receiver.

Note this is not the fabled 3-Way A-L700P external power amp, which also contains the TK2050 amplifier.

Thanks,

Jim in Toronto

My speakers have 96db sensitivity, I wouldnt expect loud undistorted music from the TEAC with less sensitive speakers, my room is medium size, about 400 square feet...

By the way, I also use bass management and a subwoofer, so the receiver doesnt have to amplify from 80hz down, still, playing without subwoofer it goes quite loud without noticeable compression...

What speakers do you currently use?  I have run the fabled AL-700P with 86db Totems, and enjoyed it, if not overwhelmed with the volume etc.

Great find, I bet that little amp is a good unit!

Where did you find it?
