Gary Jules: "Mad World" from the Donnie Darko Soundtrack
Sounds like R.E.M. huh
Actually, I think this may be originally a Tears for Fears song.

Good commerical, seems weird at first but after seeing it a few times it's kinda haunting.

Yep, just checked my Tears for fears disc, it's their song but the original is a more synth-pop 80's presentation, very different version.  I do like Jules's cover better.

Shameless plug for T4F's "Seeds of Love" disc, thought it was a very mature effort when it was released 10+ years ago and my opinion remains the same.  This was not just a 90's fluff pop disc and it shows.  This set is the best I've heard musically from T4F's, well worth a revisit you may be pleaseantly suprised.

I looked at jqp's link were this was previously discussed. Pretty cool that several people picked up on this. I went to the CDBaby site and listened to a 2 minute sample of the song. It's awesome. I will buy this record.

It's pretty rare that I'll here just a snippit of something like that commercial and say 'whoa....I gotta find out who did that!' The guy has a really interesting voice.

And yes....Donny Darko was pretty cool. I have the DVD, but never made the connection.  :duh:

The first time I saw that commercial I knew it was from Darko. And I'm not the one to listen to music at all (which is why I've never bought a CD/LP/Cassette/etc in my entire life).

But I watch lots of movies, and usually associate a song with whatever movie I saw it in. Couldn't have told you who the artist/song was on this one, but I certainly know what it was from...

I am enjoying it considering that I am a part-time gamer. Haven't gotten Gears of War yet, but will when I get some other things done. I play Halo 2 a few hours a week, and I actually got the $4 Burger King games last week (have only looked at 1 one of them so far). And I think I saw bubb996 online the other night as I was shutting down...

Just got this disk. It's good. Some well written songs and the recording seems decent, though I've only listened on computer speakers thus far. The rest of the record is more 'conventional' singer/songwriter sounding. It doesn't have that really haunted sound of 'Mad World'.

I think my favorite of the originals is called 'Barstool'.

Overall, I like it and think it was a good find. Pretty much my taste in music for the past few years.

Thanks for the headsup.
