Best Way to Upload Music on New Computer
« on: 20 Nov 2006, 04:22 pm »
I have a new Dell with lots of memory that I want to upload all my music on. I use it on a daily basis for work, so sending it would not be an option. :nono:
I hear lots of talk on this subject, but would like to know the best application options for 2 channel listening & burning.
Right now I am just using the Yahoo Jukebox for these things, but would like to know what other options are better.
THanks

Hi Zapper, you're in a similar situation as I, assuming you're going for 'audiophile' quality recording/burning. Here's the thread I've got going so far.

Welcome to the club.
It's one of those topics that never dies (people like you and me keep it alive.)
It's like asking, "What speaker wire should I use?" "Should I burn it in first?"
"Should I upgrade my power cable?"  :duh:

Its funny cause I just burned my first CD Sunday with the Yahoo Jukebox, and was impressed at the sound and how nothing was really "wrong".
I like that CD Extractor, it does seem easy and is compatable with the FLAC everyone likes.
I'll see what makes sence as I read more of the info on the threads here.

Actually, I am getting an Earthquake sub, after an audition, for the theater as the full range Silverlines I have don't need it for music, and I am getting new monoblocks for the Silverlines aa
I even have buyers for the old equipment, thank you Xmas time. :thumb:
I will post new pics when all has arrived.
It looks like you room is great too. Did you plan it dedicated, or rearrange for it? It is a shame I am here alone in Reno, would love to host meetings, etc, but not alot of interest in the north desert.

Getting back to the computer, I have chatted with others and read the memory requirements. I have no more than maybe 1500 songs, so that amount will not tax the memory in my computer much, I think the EAC seems to be interesting, but I did burn that 1st cd and the sound is quite nice. I might try the EAC and flac, but if it gets to difficult or doesn't work for me, I will just stay with my Yahoo.

You might consider using an external hard drive to store your music files. The prices for them have dropped quite a bit in the past year. It's a convenient way to store the files and allows you to add files easily as your library grows as well as freeing up your primary hard disc.

Internal drives are much cheaper than External ones, and seem to be more reliable too. 400G SATA for $100-110 internal...haven't seen any Externals to match that.
