Well, I replaced my old, pinholed Heart Shaped World today and got a nasty surprise: the new CD exhibits pinholes right out of the box, brand new! Guess that suggests that the examples I've seen so far may not be just bad handling.
Luckily I saved the receipt and will be exchanging it tommorrow.
You may be afraid to look, but I encourage everyone to give their CD collection the once-over and look for any bad discs. You may not like what you find, but if any are bad, it's better to know while they're in print and easy to find.
