Bugle quick switch to 60db?
« on: 20 Nov 2006, 03:55 am »
I remembering seeing a 40db/60db stock option somewhere I believe.

The 40db is not enough right now into my Sharp SD-EX111. My CD playback is so much louder.... I want to get a little silly loud with vinyl!

Thanks, and if not I will use the calculator page.

Yes, you can change the gain of a BUGLE with 4 resistors.  I would not recommend a switch.  Are you not getting enough volume right now?  What happens when you turn up the volume control to maximum?  If this is silly loud, then the CD player is the problem, not the BUGLE.

Keep in mind that for best sonics and minimal distortion, you want a volume control at maximum setting.  Less attentuation = better sound.

the calc page is a snap - plug in 60db, & it shows r3/r5/r21/r23 to be changed from stock 1.31.k to new 0.388k.  i have a bugle that i have never tried, cuz i use a low-output mc cartridge - i need to solder in li'l sockets so i can try different value (riken ohm?) resistors...
