Check out my gallery "Demolition of an old KLH speaker". I got this old pair of KLH speakers that did not work. There was no way to get at any part of the speaker with out total destruction. Anyway, I just wanted the cabinets to use for another speaker in the ceiling of my porch using the ACI B-Flat "Standard" 2 way speaker. They sound quite good with this cabinet.
The Build of this KLH is unlike anything I have ever seen. The only separate driver is the tweeter. The woofer was made as part of the cabinet.
I tried to put the pictures in order of destruction, but I could not get that to work in my gallery! You will have to do the destruction order yourself.

that's pretty amazing. Seems like a radical way to save a little money in manufacture - you would think that the time it must have taken to put the woofer together would offset any savings in not using a basket. I've never seen a speaker built like that.

What rocket scientist came up with that concept? That's about the stupidist thing I've ever seen. :duh:

Sounds like some of the early productions runs of KLH sixes, They could have done that type of construction with other models however too. Later productions of the speaker incorporated screws. What an idea  :duh:

I used to have some old KLH mirage speakers before buying my B&W dm603s3's.   They weren't that bad,   a bit splashy on top and a bit light on the bottom   :o   ....
