Here are some recent comments from Martin Dewulf on the SAS Audio Labs 11A:
"SAS has a new preamp coming out. A few Months prior to the
publication of this issue of BFS, Steve Sammet of SAS brought over his
new 11A preamplifier. It's all tube and it retains the dual volume
pot design of the old 10A. But with this model, Steve has refined the
circuit, used better parts and has (in my opinion) built a more
transparent sounding preamp."
"The 10A was a superb piece of audio engineering, particularly when
price was a consideration. For around $2500 retail, the new 11A looks
to be an even better value.
At a time when $5,000-$10,000 preamps litter the countryside,
oftentimes with dubious, sonic qualities, the 11A struck me during
our day of listening as superbly true to its input, fully capable of
capturing the beauty, power and subtlety of a performance.
Our auditon included the Monarchy 250-SE hybrid, mono power amps and
the Daedalus loudspeakers. The day was a delight. And even though the
unit I heard in the Big Rig was a prototype,
I have full confidence in the newest 11A being a benchmark tube
product at a price that any serious audiophile can afford. Who says
you have to be rich...."
