Can the TRL modded Sony 565 *REALLY* beat my SCD-1?

I want to upgrade my turntable rig, and since my funds are limited, I thought of selling my SCD-1 to finance the project. SACD playback is not critical any more, since I only own a small number and don't anticipate owning many more. I just want a redbook playback setup that will sound as good as what I have now, and I'd like to keep the budget for a new digital source under $1000.

I've been reading good reviews of the TRL modded players, and am seriously considering the Sony 595 (cost would be around $830, including buying a refurbed unit).

Anyone want to weigh in on the pros or cons of this decision? Thanks,

Jon

Do you mean the Sony 595 - 5 disc changer that they mod?

It is a very nice unit. I had one over a year ago.
I presently have another TRL modded unit.
They have enhanced the mod since that time and most people are quite pleased with it.

I am not familiar with the SCD-1.
Chat with Paul Weitzel. I am guessing he has heard and worked on the SCD -1.

Good luck.
