RMAF and the AC manufacturers
« on: 23 Oct 2006, 11:02 pm »
I wanted to make a comment on how awesome it was to be able to talk with the various manufacturers that are on AudioCircle.
All that were at RMAF made themselves available to talk to show attendees about many things, including the reasons/choices behind their designs.
They all were very gracious and a joy to converse with.

I want to thank all of the manufacturers that call AC their home for their valuable contributions to this site. :thumb:

Thanks,
Lin

I couldn't agree more.  As Lin said, ALL of them were very gracious taking time to show their wares, swap things around if asked without complaint (esp. Danny and Al W), play the sometimes crazy demo discs we brought, and explain their design philosophies at great length.  The sounds from the AC rooms more than held their own with some of the dreck (is that a word?) coming out of some of the over priced and over hyped rooms.  Despite a little teething on setups Friday, by Saturday everyone seemed to have things dialed in nicely.  As usual, Klaus put on a great show with his $5k system that should have caused some of these other guys to worry.  The picture speakers were pretty cool too.

Oh and thanks to Chris as well for bringing the rave demo discs to hand out to everyone.  I've already enjoyed mine in my own system.

Hey Tom....As for Klaus' picture speakers. They really are something...and they sounded good again. When I got to his room, did a little experiment....how loud can they go ???  Everyone stepped outside the room....except me. Got out the SLM....turned up the volume on Pink Floyd....highest I got was 105db....and they still held together....cool and clean. Thank you Klaus.....got my R & R fix.....

Enjoy the music Tom....good to meet you.... :thumb:

Hey wait a minute, my friend Darrell and I were in there too.

Watching Klaus was funny, he looked like a kid doing something he knew he shouldn't hoping his dad wouldn't catch him, with a big  :green: the whole time.

Howdy guys,

Agreed with the lot of you.  I too hoped to make it to all of our locally referenced folks' rooms, but some were too crowded when I got there, and I with my thoughts wandered and maybe made it back.  SO much to do, so little time, so few brain cells...
When I did get in a room with A/C sponsored forums, and we made some connection of who the heck *I* was, it was another level of association that cut through ice of us being strangers, like cousins that had never been to the same reunions.  That willingness that earmarks the manufacturers/dealers/etc. that are on here put them all a big step forward in who I'll do business with, rather than the ones like held the Vandersteen room that treated me like an old hippy low-life-tire-kicker.  Even though I still own Vandies!
Don't get me wrong, there were some great folks out there NOT associated with A/C (though I might have mentioned their checking in here to a few that weren't familiar).
As I will say probably many times before finally done posting, it was absolutely super meeting all you guys ( I actually remember what each looks like still!!) and have the chance to shoot the bull and flesh out that though we may all come from different directions, we may not be all that different, after all.
Finally, since it was brought up, my first experience hearing Klaus' picture/speakers and I was severely impressed.  As came to me MANY times this weekend, I *really* don't need more speakers, BUT!......Klaus was STILL trying to get me into a pair of Lorelleis and he almost had me convinced to chuck all my stuff and to start over, AGAIN!
Well, more in other posting.  I've 9 pages to catch up to!

Bestest Regards!

Every vendor from AC that I spoke with was gracious and informative. Wayne from Bolder Cable really impressed me. I had the pleasure of listening to him at the AC table in the bar Friday night. Klaus, as usual, was great and it was fun spending most of one day in the Odyssey room watching him put his gear through it's paces. Bryan from GIK was also very helpful and informative, offering room setup and treatment advice gratis.

In fact, all the folks from AC were great. The AC community is something special.
