TRL will be releasing their modded Marantz 8001 SACD player through musicdirect.com. I currently own the TRL Sony DVP-900NS SACD player. The Marantz player is expected to be an improvement over the Sony. The player will sell for $1500 which includes mod. from TRL.

Have you heard the new TRL SA-8001?  I heard that they will honor the 3 year factory warranty purchasing through Music direct. This sounds tempting.

No I havn't. I believe they have only done one unit so far and are awaiting 15 units to arrive from musicdiredt.com.

Will you be getting one? If so, please keep us posted. TRL SA-8001 indeed looks tempting if the three year warranty still holds true after mod. I only wish it would also play DVD-Audio because I have a few DVD-Audio at hand.  Because of that, TRL 900v still looks more appealing!

I used my Stock Sony 900 before sending it off for mods. The video wasn't too special. They took out the video board in the mod. Someone at TRL told me the Oppo DVD player for $170 was great on video, so I bought one and had it sent to them. Will let you know the results.

FYI, Mark at Musid Direct told me about the 3 year warranty on their TRL SA-8001 mod, when I called today about the player.
