Skylan Damping Boards

Anybody use or have any experience with these? I was getting ready to purchase a maple butcher block for my amp when I came across an ad for these. The cost for one of these would be about double for what I would pay for a maple block, so I am curious if they are worth the extra dough.

I've been using Skylan platforms for years.  I have the earlier generation that used ceramic feet attached to the top plate.  The newer versions are said to be an improvement.  Here is a recent review...

Thanks for the post and the link. So did you feel they made a positive improvement in the sound?

Yes definately.  The biggest improvements were on my pre/pro and source components like CD/DVD players.  It's hard to describe in words the effect they had.  There is less smearing (does that make sense?) and another layer of the veil is stripped away.

I'd take the roughly $200 it costs for these and buy more CD's........I mean face it any airborne sound will directly impact the amp or other components in question directly and these won't stop that.I wouldn't worry about it myself.

I have a newer double layer with ceramic feet.  It's not in use, so if you want to give it an audition, all it would cost you is shipping.  Drop me a PM.
