I cancelled my Van Alstine order. After much consideration, I don't think it's the combination I'm looking for. I've owned AVA gear in the past and believe it to be very good. I've actually been toying with the idea of PrimaLuna or maybe Cayin gear. Seems to be VERY well built and I am partial to tube gear.
What can beat the musicality of my Marantz Ma-5 Esotec class A monoblocks?
The Ma-5's have the magic holographic, harmonic presentation & decay of tubes with the beef, bass control and neutrality of tone solid state is characteristic for.
Too bad they're only 30 watts...
I think a Van Alstine hybrid amp would be a good choice for you. As picky as I am, I really like the sound. The quality is there and it can play salsa music big time. Would be a great match for your modded 1200.
