New Squeeze box convert

I just got my squeezebox up and running and I am enjoying it :thumb:  I have listened to nothing but vinyl for the last 3 years and found myself listening less and less due to work and the time it took to set up the record player etc.
I have a stock SB3 and I am running the analog out to my Mapletree Ultra 4 SE.  Is the sound as good as my Garrard 301 with SME 3009 and Klipsch MC cart, in a word no.  But the convenience is worth it, I am going to be listening to music much more!
I will be getting an external DAC and upgrading the power supply and hope to have it closer to vinyl sound.  I must say that this is the most impressive development in home audio in my lifetime.  I love my SB3

Great!  It really makes it easy to listen to exactly what you're in the mood for, doesn't it?  ;)

You might want to investigate the Ack! dAck! 2.0 (perhaps with ultra-resolution option).  This is a battery-powered DAC, so it requires a bit more thought to your usage patterns.  You can listen for up to 8 hours at a time, but the battery will last longest if you listen for 4 hours and then recharge.  And you must remember to turn it off after each use.  But if you're coming from analog, you will really like the sound - in my humble opinion.  :D  It comes with a digital cable.  www.ack-industries.com

No affiliation, just a happy customer.

I think you will. My modded power supply is on order with BolderCables. Even without it, I can tell the SB3 does not have the edge or digital harshness of my CD player (am using it as a transport). I can listen for longer hours and I listen to lot more music these days.
With a CD player, all these polishes/mats were driving me nuts (they do make a difference and I keep fussing with them for that reason). Goodbye to all those tweaks.
