Hi guys - looking for extremes in Columbus, Ohio
« on: 26 Sep 2006, 04:49 am »
It's been awhile since I've been around.

My bro' lives in Columbus, OH, and he's looking for an amp upgrade.  Well, he doesn't like the lack of power/control with his 250 wpc Heathkit amp.  I brought my Stratos to his house a few years ago, and in concert with his speaker, his complaint was in the treble.  But he agreed it was an impressive performer.

Neither one of us has listened to extreme anything, and we're both curious.  I'm a definite fan of Odyssey.  If Kurt could get the chance to find someone in the area (somewhere between Cincinnati and Cleveland I'd guess), and if he could get a chance to hear the Odyssey extreme (something), he might be able to solve his problem.  Do yah think?

Extreme "something" - how many extremes do you guys got these days?  Let's see, there were Gary mods, and then extreme monos, and now, is there an extreme Stratos?  Klaus, if you've got stuff like this around, I actually don't think the drive would be a problem for him - he's certainly gone farther.  Indianapolis is only 170 miles away.

TIA -
Mark

Hey there,
If you brother needs to listen to Odyssey gear he could stop by for a listen, and i may be persuaded to bring an amp to Columbus to allow him to listen at home.
I live in the Cleveland area, but have family in Columbus and will be in the area at Thanksgiving.
Please feel free to pm or email me if you are still looking.

Mark,

I live in Columbus and have the full line of Odyssey gear. Monos(non-extreme), Lorelies and Tempest all connected with Groneberg ICs and speaker cables. Depending on when he'd like to come by, I be more than happy to host him for a listening session and he could bring any gear he'd like. Actually I still haven't found the right CDP yet, so I'd love to hear something different in my system. Let me know.

Larry what CDP are you running now?
I could bring by a couple around Thanksgiving.  I have a pioneer all in one with a nixon non os dac, and a Roksan Caspian M1.
The sound is quite differant, but the pioneer, if i can be found can be had for less than $200 and sometimes for less than $100 if you can find a store closeout at Circuit City.

The non os dacs can be had for very little as well.  The Dac Ah sounds very nice with the pioneer, and can play everyhting you throw at it.
