ODL amps

I don't want to open any old wounds here, so I would appreciate it if Sa-Dono & company would follow this post closely in case it gets out of hand.

I just saw that Spearit Sound is selling a stock of the original 150 W ODL amps for $599 apeice.  I basically know the story of this amp & how it relates to the current incarnation.  What I'd like to know is:  what do you folks think of this amp (people who've actually hear it?)  Would you feel comfortable buying one now, knowing service could be an issue?  I was thinking it might be a good amp for my bedroom system.

Thanks, all.

For a bedroom system you could check out the Khatargo amp as well.  I personally feel a nice intigrated with remote is best for a bedroom system unless you need a DD surround system.

$599 for an Odyssey "Klone" with no warranty? If you're trying to save a few buck, then you're taking a big risk in a long run. For $300, I might do it but definitely not $599.

I go with Maxcast's suggestion and spend the money on the Khatargo amp.

My understanding is that it's no clone; for the history of the amp, you'd probably be better off asking one of the Stratos owners.  I believe that these are all original production and pretty well made.

As for myself, I was just thinking aloud.  I don't have a pressing need for a new amp for my bedroom.  I suppose a new B&K for about the same price with full warranty would be a better deal.  I could probably buy an NAD C-370, too, for the same money.

Sorry, I might had used the term clone in a wrong context here. But anyway,  I knew about the history of ODL so well that I'd decided to stay away from them and bought  the original products from Klaus instead.  Mostly because I want to have a peace of mind knowingly that I've 20 years of  warranty behind them instead of "AS IT" .

Yeah, I guess you make a good point.  At $300 bucks they'd be a steal, but I suppose it isn't worth taking the chance.
