Any chance that the up coming P-9 features both balanced XLR input and output?

i just sent in my p-8 for factory up grades, it is such a great match for my ref 9s, which are being updated to SE also, i sure will be ready to find out all i can about the p-9 being a mate for the ref 9 SEs, i can say this the p-8 is one fine preamp, fast, detailed, and enough flexibility with inputs and remote, i know all nuforce owners cant say enough of the fine equipment that has been introduced by Jason, Cassy, and the nuforece crew, and you can bet the the p-9 will be another winner,

beachbum,

I have a P-8 myself and agree with you're assessment.  I am curious what upgrades are available?

I purchased the P8/Ref 9.02 combo about 4 months ago.  (Mfg dates for amps were late 12/05 and P8 was late 1/2006).  I am very, very pleased.  They really sing.  Smooth extended highs, controlled bass, expansive soundstage, rock solid imaging - what's not to like!!

Next up: speaker upgrade!

Mike, your upgrades started yesterday and should be completed to day :thumb:

The WBT's for the P-8 are not available as upgrades so I'll be sending you a refund.

Just stick it under your mattress until the P-9 is available

Nuforce is going to release S-8 real soon.  S-8 speaker is our answer to the speaker world what Ref 9/Ref 9 SE is to the amp market.  Casey and I have been listening and spoiled by our prototype S-8. Every other speakers that we hear now sounded bad.  We think it will outperform many speakers costing 3X to 5X the price of S-8
This is developed in collaboration with the very talented Bob Smith from SP Tech.  We share the intellectual property rights and are filing patent for the unique design.

Jason - Hmmm...  You've got my attention.   :o  Will you be at the RMAF in October?  Will you be showing the S8's?

What is the price on the S-8, and how does it sound off-axis(although I don't think this is important in a speaker, except in my situation)?

OK, it is not fair to keep P-9 out of public view now that many Hong Kong audiophiles have heard and saw the prototype from Aug. 11 to 14.
The NuForce word under the glass will light up when the preamp is powered up.

We're still tweaking the look and feel. The remote control is still being finalized.
The price is not firmed yet. There will likely be two models, one retails for $2995 and another one for $4500.  Please don't ask us for spec yet. We will publish it as soon as we completed our internal and external evaluation process.  We are aiming for P-9 to be the best preamp at any price (oh well, until P-10 is out).

Expected ship date is end of October or early November.  P-9 is the scaled down version of P-10, which is rumored to be priced above $10,000 :)
By the way, some of the parts used in P-9 are custom made and used in military communication gears (super low noise and very high performance).

I don't know anything about the price, but based on my experience with similar designs, I'd say off-axis response will be equal to or better than most anything this side of an omni.

For frame of reference, I often listen while sitting on our sofa, which is approximately a foot outside the left speaker.  Even so, I have trouble detecting any meaningful sonic differences when sitting in what would be the sweet spot for most other speakers.  Sure, the image shifts, but that's of little consequence to me.

I'm sure Casey or Jason will correct me if I'm wrong.
