Do source A/B switches degrade sound quality a lot?

I want to use the same set of speakers in my tube setup also as front speakers in my home theater setup. Somebody suggested Niles product, but forewarned me that A/B switches degrade sound quality at audiophile level.

How much do I lose in terms of sound quality? 5%?

Guys, please recommend best way I can do this.. what is the best source A/B switch available?

Thanks

AB

I have used two source switches to do exactly as you describe. The only issue I encountered was a ground loop due to one switch having a common ground amongst all the inputs. The fix was to eliminate the ground loop at the source. It wasn't really an issue with the switch at all.

As for SQ, if you buy a quality switch, I doubt you would hear any degradation. I know I didn't.

One of the fancier switches is the Manley Skipjack. It's a very complicated piece of work and I have heard it's very transparent. If it can be made to be transparent, I am sure a simple input switch can be made transparent as well.

I saw this one from Mapletree the other day.  Looks sweet and relatively cheap.

You could always just make one. I built this one for a buddy who has a pre with only one input and needed a way to switch between three. The is simple and fits the bill.

Decware sells a switching box (for $100 I seem to recall).
