Hi Guys,
I recently heard a diy tube preamp in a friend’s setup. The pre-amp turned out to be a fantastic performer even beating his bryston bp20. I noticed one issue though. There is cross talk between the components connected to the pre-amp. You connect the cd and you change the selector switch, you can still hear the cd faintly. Is this a QC issue, bad selector control or some other? My friend told me, this is a very minimalist/purist design without any mute controls and all that. I wonder ? Any thoughts ?

Seems that there may be some interaction/leakover in the selector switch.

Hi hertz,

Often such crosstalk stems from the wiring from the input sockets (back panel) to the selector switch (front panel). If all inputs L channel are wired in a loom together they will feedthrough at higher frequencies.

The solution is to run the wiring individually in shielded cables.

A secondary cause could be poor grounding and common ground wiring of inputs.
