Inboard vs Outboard DAC: What Differences James?
« on: 25 Jun 2006, 02:56 pm »
Hi James,

I sold yesterday my six months old B100SST R and I am going to order in a couple of days a new BP26 + 3BSST combo. Before ordering the pre I have a question: is the planned outboard DAC superior in performance compared to the one included in the BP26 DA or it is basically the same thing?

Thanks for your time.

Nicola

Hi,

It will be the same digital stage but with more inputs - AES EBU, Optical, SPDIF and USB.

James, is the USB input going to convert directly to the DAC chip's to I2S interface?  (Instead of, for example, utilizing S/PDIF in between the two.)

Thanks!

Hi,

Things are not finalized yet but at this point the signal from the USB reciever chip will go to the sample rate converter directly in I2S.
