Hey, that would make another nice little kit.  So far, my plans for remote control are for the HAGLABs "two" series.  That's a bit down the road.  Will have custom IR remote, probably use a joystick like a playstation.  Might add an ethernet port too, for networked control.  Yeah, I think they're out-of-the-box ideas.  But wouldn't it be cool to have Windows control the stereo?  You have an iTunes panel and a HagLabs panel.  Maybe I can get them to work together.  Personally, I think a big part of the future hi-fi scene will be hard drive based systems.  So heck, if a computer is involved, may as well maximize the potential.

Have you looked at the Welborne volume control?

jh :)

I ordered a Welborne Labs remote attenuator last Feb and after 2 months I had to cancel the order, backordered parts made it unavailable. Too bad, it looked like it fit the bill.

I installed a Bent Audio remote control unit on a DACT attenuator in my preamp - it was easy to install and works beautifully:

http://www.bentaudio.com/

There is a photo of it here - the remote control motor is bolted to the end of the DACT and the circuit board driving it is in the upper right:

You can have these RC units configured to also run a DACT selector, for example for changing sources on the fly
