Here is a photo of a custom Bybee Ultra speaker purifier.

There are two large Bybee purifiers in series with the positive terminal in this set up.

Hopefully I will soon get some time to work on the single Bybee speaker purifier and the line level purifiers.

That ULTRA Purifier with TWO Bybees would sell for about $300.00 EACH.

The Standard Purifier for speaker levels will be between $175.00 and $200.00 EACH. After building the ULTRA purifier as a custom order for a client, I now have a better idea of the exact parts and labor requirements these items entail.

The line level Purifiers should be able to be made for $300.00 a pair. Which is half of what the original Bybee line level purifiers sold for.

I can also build a Bybee adaptor for existing power cables, if anyone would be interested in that.

I feel the Bybee Power Bar I make is still the best value. But if someone is happy with their power cable, but wants to add a Bybee Purifier to it, I should be able to build an adaptor for just under $200.00 with one Large Bybee in it. Add another $100.00 for two.

What I was thinking of, was an adaptor to go into the IEC on the back of your gear. The Bybee would be built into that and another male IEC would be on the end of it.

This would be rather deep, so you would need lots of room behind your gear.

I could also build this configuration on the wall outlet end.  there would be a male AC plug, the Bybee and then a female connector. Sort of lik a VERY short extension cord, without the cord. I could also add on a short length of power cable so it would be flexible.

Wayne,

Take a look at AG.  Some guy is selling a stock of inline bybee filters (female rca > bybee> male rca) for $500!!  Youch!

The original Bybee interconnect filters retailed for $600.00 a pair.

I do try to offer good value :D

What kind of connectors are those on the Ultra? I take it the Standard has one BYBEE?

What kind of sonic effects might one expect with these adaptors? Are the effects sublte or readily apparent? Is the Ulta much improved over the Standard?

This was a custom product made to spec. I used Sound Connections binding posts and Cardas Rhodium Plated pins.

They can be made with any connector you wish to connect to your speaker.

I have only had a very quick listen to a set of Standard speaker level Bybee Purifiers. The first thing I noticed was a lowered noise floor. This is just about standard for any application in which a Bybee purifier is used. I also noticed a more natural, less strident, treble. TO my ears, this was NOT subtle. Maybe Tyson can comment a little more about the Bybee jumper I made for him.

I am shipping the ULTRA off to the end user today. Hopefully he will comment about the sound of it. He has two ULTRAs made by Jack Bybee and two standards. This was made for his center channel.

I have been VERY busy with building all these new products and I have not had the time for a proper listening evaluation. Most of the new products are still on the Cable Cooker being broken in.  Hopefully when the DAM get together next weekend I can have some of these goodies ready to listen to.

My first impressions of the standards were a clearer presentation, almost like someone turned up the treble & volume. This effect was so pronounced in my system that my mains drowned out the rears even tho the speakers are on either side of my chair. The Ultra`s with 2 Bybee`s in series are just more of the same, a real clearer sound like someone took off a speaker cover. And this wasn`t just affecting the highs either. My speakers aren`t known for their bass but with these Ultra`s in place, not much of a difference is realized when switching off the subwoofer....

Would you say that the standards made your speakers sound bright and that the Ultras gave a more balanced presentation?

Thanks - I will definitely keep this in mind for the future.  I am currently burning in a few new components and don't want to change too many things at one time.

I wonder what would make a bigger improvement - bybees for the speakers or upgrading the Bennic caps and cement type resistors in the XO board of my speakers.

Robin,

That should qualify you for some sort of award from Jack Bybee!

I am thinking about a bybee upstream of the IEC of my balanced power supply (just got it 2 days ago!) so that my whole system can benefit from cleaner power.  The power supply Wayne built for my DI/O has a bybee already so it would then get a double dose of bybee-cleaned power.

Next, bybees at the speaker terminals would clean out noise from the music signal just before it gets converted to sound by the speakers.

Well, that's what I am thinking at this point.  A benefit of this approach is that it is certainly easier than tearing into my speakers to upgrade the XO parts or the wiring.

Robin,

Do keep us in the loop!  It looks like you and Wayne are on the cutting edge of bybee applications here on AC!   :D   My pocketbook is in your hands!

Thanks for the impressions. I think I will start off with the Power Bar and take it from there.

So much for break-in time!

Robin,

Your Bybee Ultra speaker purifier spent just over 96 hours on my Audio Dharma Cable Cooker. Most of the break-in is finished by the time you received it. There may be a few subtle changes going on for the next week, but nothing major.

I am glad that I could match the sound of the more expensive used purifiers you are running on your mains.

The parts for your IEC purifier should be here today.
