Title says most of it, but let me expand just a little... have had the SB1 for a while now but only just started using it. Don't ask me why, I don't know. But am enjoying it to death.
I am using optical out to a Behringer DEQ2496 and from there, optical out again to a DAC. I think I will continue using a DAC as I did not care too much for the sound of the Behringer DAC going direct to the integrated.
While interested in the v3 for its better interface, I would need more reasons than that to do it, being conservative (ie tight with a buck). A friend who has it tells me that (a) the DAC is better, no reason to doubt that, but how good? The DAC I am using is the one built into my Quad CDP-2 player.
(b) If using with a DAC, is it better as a transport? If so, what makes it thus?
(c) Will it do remote volume control in the digital domain, that is, using optical/coax digi out, and without 'throwing away' bits? The SB1 does not have this capability; that would be cool as my amp is not remote controlled.
Any other selling points... as the resale value of the SB1 is basically nil (correct me if I am wrong), I would essentially be throwing it away. I like the large text option of the SB1; does 3 have this too?
And finally, is wireless (my SB1 is wired) reliable and receives data well? My system does not have a great line-of-sight to the router and is a bit far away also, which is why I went wired the first time. Still on v B wireless btw (I know, what a dinosaur!).
Thanks all.
