Over in the 2 channel forum in a thread where I was asking about another brand of speaker, dmason mentioned that the 8" Hemp Cones (?)were his new favorite 8" driver and that they had a bass reach to ~36 Hz, which is impressive.
I FINALLY got the chance to spend a few hours with the SuperHemps yesterday with my new Signature 30 amp prototype (testing everything out for the Montreal show).
In my listening room (about 13' x 15') we were getting strong bass down to 32Hz!!!! In fact, the bass was a tad bit stronger at 32Hz than it was at 36Hz. Below 32Hz, it rolled off very quickly.
Besides the very impressive bass reach we achieved in my room, I must say that the SuperHemp is the best sounding Omega speaker that I've heard! The lastest (and final) revision of the 8" custom Hemp driver is perfected....very well balanced sounding, very organic, and very musical.
Also, before we hooked them up I thought to myself that they were probably not going to work well with my small-to-medium sized room. WRONG! They loaded the room superbly!
We had these toed in so that the drivers crossed about 3 feet
behind our head (ie, they were not pointed directly at us, nor crossing in front of us). The speakers were about 2 feet from the back wall.
Can't wait to hear them again in Montreal, and I MUST own these speakers for my reference pair!
