Hi RWA,
Have you ever made a battery supply for something like a CIAudio VDA-2? (output for CIA VAC-1 power supply is 14VAC @ 1.44 amps, from their website)
I was just wondering if this was in the realm of the battery power you supply, or if you have done/heard something like this before?

Thanks!

Hi mfsoa,

Yes, I did this a while back for ac member Gordy's Perpetual Technologies P3-A dac.  As far as I know, he is still using and loving it!

Where are ya, Gordy?

Best regards,

Gordy

I'm still using it and loving it!  I've just recently had the chance to compare it to a stock unit (thanks Chris!) and the stock unit didn't stay in for long... the battery unit has a smoother top end and much nicer detail.  I don't hear any difference in dynamics or range really, just that dead quiet supply letting the dac bring out decay, ambiance cues and harmonics all the better!  Sweet!  Funny... I've been wondering lately what a modern design, the VDA-2 specifically, would sound like all cleaned up  :D
