I haven't seen much discussion here about this guy, but I happened to be watching a chick flick the other night (the one where Reese Witherspoon is a semi-ghost) and toward the end there was this AMAZING song. After the movie I looked it up in the credits and saw that it was a guy named Amos Lee - never heard of him.....  Anyway, I went out and picked up the CD and this guy is GOOD. The whole damn CD is good!  It's pretty rare that I pick up a disc and enjoy it from start to finish.....truly a rare feat. If you guys like  folk-ish, catchy, emotional, Norah Jones-ish music, check this guy out!

Yep, that's the one :)  I bought it for the song "Colors", which is just beautiful.....but I was really impressed with the whole thing. Just good, well-written, sincere music. One of the best purchases I've ever made. I put it up there with some of my other favorites - Jeff Buckley's "Grace", Radiohead's "the Bends", Five For Fighting's "American Town".....etc. The kind of stuff you can just hit play and then sit back for the next hour and enjoy  :D

I saw him open up for Norah Jones last year.
Good live show - I'm enjoying his CD too.

Hey Brad, how do you like that Mapleshade wire? I'm actually giving serious consideration to some of their Bedrock monitor stands.....I love that company!

I saw him at a small club in Arlington, VA in Dec. 2004 when no one heard of him (there were maybe 50 people there).  His album came out in March 2005.  I also have his EP with 7 songs (5 of them are on his album but different versions).  There are lots of good artists to catch.  I'm going to see Brandi Carlile (brandicarlile.com) tonight at a small place too.

I would call it somewhere in the folk/pop/rock genre.  There is an MP3 of one song at her site (brandicarlile.com) and most (if not all) of the major online sites (e.g. Tower, Circuit City).  I have to tell you I just came back from here concert at a small club and wow!  She's quite excellent.

There are lots of new artists I listen to.  The best concert I ever saw was at the same small club I saw Amos Lee in - Jesse Malin (jessemalin.com).  He is great live.  I would call his music alt. rock.  He is working on his 3rd album now.  His 1st one was produced by Ryan Adams.

If you get a chance to see her live do it - here is her upcoming schedule:

This album features Norah Jones- she plays instruments, co-wrote a couple songs, and sings the chorus with Amos in "colors".

The liner notes list all songs written by Amos Lee.  Norah Jones plays piano and sings background vocals on "Colors" and plays piano on the 1st cut.
