Just curious- has this one been rolled out yet? I recall that the RM1 was dropped close to a year ago with the promise that the '1a's would soon be out.
Also, will the RM1a have a CDWG option?
Lastly, forgive me if this is a stupid question (or if I've asked it already
), but why not market a floorstanding version of the 626R? It seems like merely extending the cabinets to floorstanders would kill two birds with one stone- you wouldn't need stands and you wouldn't have to rig 'beards' to help ...
Hi Rob,
It seems the RM1a is still "up in the air".
Without the support of a "local" and reliable cabinet maker it is difficult to supply such a large model lineup.
VMPS has:
RM/x
RM40
RM30
RM2
RM1a (on hold)
626R
Ribbon Dipole
and
LARGER Sub
215 Sub
Dedicated Sub
You won't find too many small manufacturer/designers with 10 different models in their linup, and under the circumstances it is difficult to do.
"If" the RM1a makes it to the line (and I know B has those intentions) it certainly will have the CDWG.
In fact one of the "prototype" photos I posted (way back when) actually was of the RM1a and I mistakently identified it as the RM2.
See below:

The 626R can be used "just fine" without a beard, just as "any" standmount speaker can. The suggestion of a beard will work equally well with "any" standmount.
Point being, it is just a tweak, to take advantage of a more solid and sound directing boundary.
