I just tried to download and install Slimserver 6.5b1, but after the download I couldn't figure out how to install it.  Out of the index of downloads, I downloaded Slimserver_v2006-02-07.zip.  Is that correct for Windows XP?  I extracted the files, but couldn't figure out what to do after that.

Unless you LOVE testing beta software, I would stay far far away from 6.5b1.  I made the mistake of installing it a week ago (hoping to check out the latest additions), ran into problems, and ended up having to totally delete Slimserver, and start from scratch, losing the "preferences" for all 3 of my Squeezeboxes.  What a pain!

If you want the latest STABLE version, get the latest 6.2.2 nightly d/l from here...

I'm sorry you had trouble, sleepy.  I installed it yesterday and haven't had any problems yet... it's slated for a March release from what I hear, so hopefully it's fairly stable.

pugs - you should download the file that is marked as .exe - that's the winXP ececutable installer.  Make sure to uninstall your current Slimserver first, however, as the database file formats are not compatible between the two versions.  Good luck!

Is there any reason you're looking to use 6.5?  I need it for a Nokia 770 skin that is included, that's my excuse!
