C Series face plates
« on: 21 Jan 2006, 04:35 pm »
Hello;

I'm new here and this is my first post. I have a 4B SST with the now Pro  style series face plate and I was wondering if it is possible to replace that faceplate with one of the new C Series models which I absolutely love.

I have searched through the previous threads and there are a few in which this topic has been covered so I apologize for bringing it up again. In those earlier threads they all seem to suggest that the face plates can be switched but since all of those threads are quite old (some alomst a year now) I thought it wouldn't hurt to confirm. The only concerns mentioned in those threads was to be careful of the membrane switch but other than that it seemed easy enough to do if not by myself but by my dealer.

Also I noticed that the membrane switch was changed to show the model numbers. When the C Series was first introduced from my understanding they maintained the SST Power writing, how long was it before the membrane switches were modified?

Thanks,

Rod

Hi Rod,

The new C-Series faceplates can not be retro-fitted to the older SST Consumer or Pro amplifiers.

Out of curiosity, when the C Series was first introduced were the new face plates backward compatible to the SSTs at that time as the older threads I have read all suggest and if that was the case what changes were made between the C Series designs then and now. The only thing that I can find searching through the threads is the change of the writing on the membrane switch from 'SST Power' to the model number.

As an aside, I am soon to be the happy owner of another 4B and a 6B which were ordered a week and a half ago. My dealer was told at the time of the order it would take around 2 weeks, the waiting is brutal  :D . Can't wait to get them in the system and finally have Bryston power for all channels.

HI Rod,

We considered offering the C-Series faceplates as replacements for a short time but the new switches necessitate a change in mounting on the power switch and the softstart circuits so we decided against it.

Welcome to the Bryston family.
