We Have New Graphs!
« on: 18 Jan 2006, 03:11 am »
Folks,

For those interested, we have posted new frequency response and phase graphs for all of our models on our new website.
http://www.4sptech.com

You'll find them under the "Specifications" link for each model of the Millennial Reference Series of products.  We still need more pictures and especially up to date ones for the Concert AV Series.  I need to get response graphs for the Concert Series ASAP as well.  Sorry, didn't have time to do those before T.H.E. Show.

If your interested in the Horizontial and Vertical off-axis response of our stuff, you'll find graphs for them under the "Revelation" Specifications link.  Even though that set of graphs was taken from a standard Revelation enclosure, the responses would be the same for either of the Continuum models as well.  Obviously, that's because the upper section of the Revelation is the exact same enclosure used in the Continuum models.  Therefore, they will all exhibit the exact same horizontal and vertical dispersion characteristics.

Also, if you look closely at all the off-axis plots, you'll notive the H.F.'s above 15kHz seem to drop off more quickly than you might expect.  Well, that's the result of a last minute boo-boo.  I decidied to take those measurements on the day that our gear was already packed and waiting to be picked up to go to the show.  I had packed my calibrated mic and wasn't about to unpack it just to do those graphs.  So, I had no choice but to use another mic that doesn't go out as far in its response.  That mic is only flat out to 15kHz, gets a little "squirrely" above that and is -3dB at 20kHz.  So...actually the speakers are just a tad bit better than the graphs show, but who cares above 15kHz anyway?

I have yet to do those plots for the Timepiece 2.1 though, and it will be different due to the single woofer of course.

We hope you can be patient just a little longer.  It won't be long now and we'll have more performance graphs than any other loudspeaker manufacturer out there.  We're not afraid of "showing it all."  We'll even be posting distortion measurements!  When's the last time you saw a loudspeaker manufacturer reveal their distortion performance?  Most never would - they don't want you to know...most loudspeakers SUCK!  If you can find a speaker that has less than 3% distortion at even moderate SPL's (84-90) across the majority of the audio band - you've found a darn good speaker.  But I'm not going to tell you what our stuff does...you'll be able to see for yourself soon.  And rest assured it won't be at no "sissy" levels either.  I haven't decided just how far I want to push it yet but you can be sure all distortion measurements will be taken at 90dB or higher.  Anything less is worthless (IMHO).

Take care,
-Bob
