The time is coming. Within the next two months I will bring in an integrated amplifier within the $1000 range to match a pair of Dynaudio Focus 110's.

For years I have been caught in that all too familiar cycle of going through hoardes of equipment. While the experience has cost me a small fortune in turn for experience, the ultimate cost has been at the expense of my nerves. It's time to wind down and 'settle'.

Now, this integrated amplifier will be fitting into my ultra nearfield "pc" based system. I got a very cool and special deal on the 110's and while I am no huge proponent of the Dynaudio sound - the Focus series is the real deal and have given me a tool thats flexible and fits my needs. So now, its just a matter of determining that right combination. This has all been said to lead me to why I created this thread; to get feedback and idea's on an integrated to bring home.

Requirements; The price cannot exceed $1200 - absolute budget CAP. Used and new products welcomed. Must run fairly cool and the chassis must be relatively compact. I do not care about a remote. Outputs for a sub would be nice.

The type of sound I am looking for; A sound that is in-between ultra precision equipment (eg. Bryston, Krell) and ultra relaxed (McIntosh tube, Dynakit). This rig is going to see a plethora of horrid recordings, so a descriminating system will not be in good call, however, this system will also see its fair share of beautiful recordings and I do not want to sacrifice much in terms of resolution and a worthwhile experience. Hmm, guess I am trying to have my cake and eat it too, and all on the cheap.

Just to note:  The Dynaudio Focus 110 features a standard 4 ohm stable load. Its actually quite an efficient product and does not require a boat load of juice like most traditional dynaudio products.

Here is a list I have composed for integrated amplifiers to consider. In no particular order;

Blue Circle CS integrated
Naim Nait 5i
Unison Research Unico
Vasant_K GA120S
Cayin 265Ai
Nu Force IA-7 (stretching budget big time, no reviews out here)

My music covers just about the whole gamut; opera/variations of jazz/electronica/r&b/hip hop/raggae/variations of rock/country/ well.. you get the idea...

I am also open to the idea of seperates. Monarchy Audio in particular has caught my eye (especially because of my experience with the SM-70 Pro amp).

I am definately looking forward to idea's and feedback! Thanks!

I think Klaus (Odyssey) has an integrated in that price range.  I think he might call it  "Cyclops".

It is a Khartago amp and the Etesian pre in the same case..only one input though IIRC.

Here's a picture (Thanks Eduardo)

Look for a used Simaudio I-5 or I-3.  Either one should make a nice match with your Dyn's.

Two words: Portal Panache.  Great little amp, although I've not heard it with your speakers.

Those little Dyns are going to respond well to a bit more current. I'll second Marbles opinion on the Cyclops. I think that amp will give you the sound you are looking for plus Klaus offers the 30 day in home trial.
