Hi gang,

I'm relatively new to this forum and had a question about Scott Nixon's DAC products.  I am currently using Philips 963SA for digital with Outlaw Audio PCA (copper) interconnects to a Musical Fidelity A300 integrated amp to Magnepan MMG speakers.  I wanted to know if I would be able to use any of Scott's DACs or am I limited to the tubed output versions?  I have already e-mailed Scott and am awaiting a reply; however, I figured maybe some at this forum might be able to answer this question as well.  Thanks for your time and assistance.

Dawkimi:

Why would you be limited?  You aren't really limited in any way.  There are advantages, and disadvantages to both.  I love the tubed version, and even in an all tube system, it's magical.  But I would like to try the non-tubed version on battery power just for fun.

Haven't got around to that yet.

Good luck!

in keeping on this topic of Scott's DACs why can't we get the "+" version in a kit or even a finished product that is non-tubed? It would appear from Scott's website that the only "+" version is the tubed DAC+ factory made unit. Anybody know why???

Presumably, if you're buying a kit you can do the tweaking and upgrading yourself. He does sell the DacKit parts in two upgraded cap versions...

John, weren't you saying you were going to build one of those? Ever get to it?

Wondering what you thought of it -if you DIY'ed one?
