This is the biggest benefit of building speaker from a kit.  I can have the cabinet built to my liking by local work worker and still save a bunch of money and you can tell that I love maple finish too :-).

Excellent job. What will you use for surrounds?

tkp - looks like you got bored with the electrical engineering stuff and turned into a heck of a woodworker.

VERY nice

Brad,

I wish I have any wood working skill at all.  I found a very skillful local wook worker to do my pair of RC4 and the 4CC.  I edited the post to clarify that it was not me who did the cabinet.

Al,

No idea on the surround sound speaker yet.  I will know once the house is built because I have three room in the house pre-wired for surround sound.  Most likely, I will go with small sealed bookshelf or front ported so they can be hang on the wall.

Do you mind if I ask what kind of price such a woodworker commanded for those beautiful cabinets?

Nick,

I promissed the cabinet maker that I will not tell any one on how much I paid for the cabinet because he gave me a special deal for building the 4CC along with the RC4.

Depending on how picky you are with the spec, you will be spending any where from $ 400.00 to $ 500.00 for a similar cabinet from your local cabinet maker.  The specs on my 4CC cabinet is as follow:

a)  fully wrap Fiddle back curly maple with all around solid corner.
b)  Double refined MDF (Similar to HDF).
c)  Brass or stainless steel inserts so machine screws can be used to mount the tweeter/drivers.

I did not realize that for nice looking speakers, the cabinet probably is the most expensive component in the speakers.  I found out when I checked around.
