How much is old vinyl worth?

I'm thinking about getting rid of my vinyl collection.
I started collecting back in the late 60's.
Best guess is I have maybe 250 of them.

Though I'd be happy to part with my collection, I certainly don't want to sell an album for a few bucks only to find out later it was worth big money.

Anyone have a resource for current market value of used albums?

Thanks.

Hey Captain,

Sorry, don't have an answer as far as a resource for you. LP's are worth whatever a buyer is willing to pay for their 'sought-after' stuff. Condition of the albums would obviously be a factor as well.

If you have any Electric Flag/Nick Gravenities/Michael Bloomfield stuff in good condition- send me a PM. Or any Funky Nassau; Strokeland Superband; Doctor Funk; or Ambergris?-Amergris!.

I'm good to go on most other stuff from the late 60's thru early to mid 70's.

Hell, man- you really oughta just keep 'em- and invest in a super vinyl rig to play 'em. Vinyl still sounds more natural, you know..  :|

Market demand will be driven entirely by scarcity value -- so you need to identify those pieces of wax that are obscure on some (or several) dimensions, from sleeve printing errors to which press was used and so on. In addition to a number of online and offline published resources, you can quickly litmus test market value over GEMM.com.

Cheers, bw

Went to GEMM.com.  Huge disparity in pricing probably due to issues you site above.  With over 250 albums it will take a great deal of research to arrive at a fair market value for each album. I'm a bit overwhelmed. :o

Good News:
My albums from college are not mint.
After college I bought the best cassette player I could find (a Teac with DBX) and played an album once to set the levels and then once again to record it.  After that I played the cassettes so many of my albums have only been played twice.

Sorry WEEZ.
I don't have any of those.

I did intend to purchase a TT.
Researched the cost and reconsidered the hassel of vinyl and decided to drop the idea.
