Randy good question :?:  I'm not actually sure he might have. He said his Dac in the original chassis would cost me $700. The commercial model cost right at $1000. I've been listening basically all day to the combo. Every time I put another disc in..I shake my head at what I'm hearing. :o
I can't believe such simple looking components produce this kind of sound.

And you say there's another version..wow. It's hard for me to imagine it getting much better. It seems the speakers are made for this amplifier and Dac. I'm not sure if the upgraded clock in the transport is apart of what I'm hearing or not. It's as close to pure analog as I've heard in my home without using vinyl. This stuff will be around here for quite sometime no doubt. I haven't found a disc yet that would make me turn off the music.

Peter is very creative. He seems more interested in getting the best sound possible, Than trying to get rich off his customers. I'm glad I gave his equipment a try. It's brought my equipment swapping to a complete screeching hault!

I agree cjr888.. his equipment is top notch built. I've seen components many times the price that were built like crap in comparison. This stuff is made to last for many years.

Good listening!

Peter is an aircraft machinist by trade, so I would guess he has built things much more complicated than what you see at diyaudio.

I like Peter because he listens to his stuff, and will compare the effect of different caps and resistors on the sound.

If you want to see about the latest changes to the DAC, go to the last post on this page, and read on from there.

The four blackgate's he changed are $50 each, so it would cost $200 just to do that.  A future change for me.

Thanks for the link Randy! This maybe my next upgrade as well. Man that Dac looks like a Hotrod! :flame:
Also what type of caps did you get with your kit? Was it the BG Ns?
That's pretty cool..that's my Dac that he has posted on the site.
As far as I know it's the only one made quite like that.

Hi Gymane,

Now that you've been with the duo Non-OS DAC/Integrated Amp for several days, please tell us about the amp's performance in treble.  I know how well it sounds in bass and mids areas, but I'm getting a bit concerned about the highs.  Is there any glare?  An AC member once found the AMP-1 glaring in the highs.

Hi Greg
I bought a very early kit, soon after he started to offer it.

Had 4 25V/1000uf blackgate NH's.  These are $12.50 each, compared to almost $60 each for the 50v/1000uf N's.
